State health and education officials are urging colleges and universities to hold off on bringing students back to campus after the winter break.
Acting Secretary of Education Noe Ortega said that the rise in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across Pennsylvania are the reason for the recommendation.
Ortega also noted this is not a mandate from the state.
Butler County Community College will have all students learn remotely until early February. Slippery Rock University is replicating their fall plan by having 80 percent of classes held online.
