State health officials are increasing their efforts to get more young people vaccinated against COVID.
Acting Health Secretary Keara Klinepeter says she understands parents concerns about getting their kids vaccinated, but reiterates that the shots are safe and effective.
“If you’re not comfortable with a vaccine for your family, talk to a qualified healthcare professional to be educated on the actual information,” Klinepeter said. “Really talk to a clinical leader who knows the information and the science behind vaccination and the importance of it.”
Children five and older are currently eligible to receive the COVID vaccine and Klinepeter says as soon as later this month, the FDA could approve the vaccine for those as young as six months.
