As part of the state’s ongoing fight against the opioid crisis, over 200 people got together earlier this week for Pennsylvania’s first ever opioid summit.
Attendees met in Centre County where they discussed dealing with not only the opioid crisis, but other drug problems too.
“How do we navigate trying to address the opioid issues at the same time we’re continuing to look at other substances,” Jennifer Smith of the PA Department of Drugs and Alcohol said. “We’re really working in a challengin time, but that also makes it a really exciting time for people who care passionately about this work.”
State officials did note that Pennsylvania did see a reduction of opioid deaths in 2018.
