The Pennsylvania State House has approved an increase to the state’s minimum wage, but the bill still faces a long way before becoming law.
The proposal includes incremental increases over the next three years, eventually topping out at $15 per hour in 2026.
The bill passed the state house largely along party lines and now heads to the State Senate, where it will face more of a challenge.
Republicans control the Senate and party leaders have said that $15 per hour “is not reasonable or viable.” GOP officials said they were open to negotiations.
