State liquor sales went up over the past year.
According to the annual report from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, overall sales at state stores totaled $3.2 billion. That’s up 3.8 percent from last year.
The total sets a new record for the LCB; it also brings in a significant amount of money to the state.
The sales tax for liquor is 18 percent—meaning the state made $839 million in taxes that goes to the general fund.
