Flu season is now in full swing across the Commonwealth.
Officials say more than 2,600 cases have been reported in Pennsylvania so far this season—which Health Department spokesman Nate Wardle says is the most the state has seen in nearly a decade.
“We are higher than any point in the last seven years at this week and time,” Wardle said. “So flu season is starting earlier, which just underscores the importance of people getting a flu vaccine.”
Wardle also said that the number of cases is actually higher in the state—since confirmed cases usually represent just 20 percent of flu cases.
