The public is invited to enjoy some local outdoor activities this weekend.
On Saturday, a Family Fishing Day is planned from 9 a.m. to noon at the 528 Boat Launch off Route 422. Those planning to attend will be able to learn basic fishing skills like knot tying, casting, baiting, and removing a fish from a hook. Adults must bring a child and children must bring an adult. No license is required but registration is required by calling the park office.
Then on Sunday, area residents are invited to McConnells Mill State Park to learn more about the Eastern Hemlock tree. From 8:30 to 10 a.m., attendees will meet at the Breakneck Falls Parking lot to learn more about the importance of our state tree. Attendees are asked to wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring drinking water in order to participate in a two mile hike with the park naturalist.
