Those looking to enjoy a fall weekend outdoors are invited to a couple activities at local parks.
A Woolly Bear Walk is planned for Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Lakeview Beach Area on the North Shore of Moraine State Park. Those attending this activity will be able to explore nature during a mile-long hike along Five Points Trail in order to get a closer look at woolly bear caterpillars and other animals getting ready for winter. Those planning to attend should wear sturdy footwear and bring water.
Also on Saturday at Moraine’s Lakeview Beach area, a park naturalist will present a program titled “Stars, Stories, and S’mores” from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pavilion 4. Participants will hear stories about the different constellations as well as enjoy a tasty campfire treat. Visitors should bring a chair or blanket as well as binoculars if possible. Those planning to attend should dress for the weather.
Finally, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Jennings Environmental Education Center will host a Fall Foliage and Autumn Wonders Walk over a half mile of easy terrain. No registration is required for this free program.
