PIAA Softball:
–Moniteau’s season came to an end with a 9-0 loss to Union in the state First Round,
–Armstrong defeated Twin Valley 10-1 in their 5A state opener. The River Hawks were forced to travel five hours in each direction for the game.
–Elizabeth Forward shut-out Franklin 15-0 in five innings in 4A.
–Punxsutawey defeated Ellwood City 4-3 in 10-innings in their 3A First Round game.
–The North Allegheny baseball team won their 6A First Round playoff game with a 13-4 win over Warwick Monday. The WPIAL champion Tigers will meet Philadelphia Central Thursday in the quarterfinals.
–New Castle moved on in Class 4A with a 14-3 win over Harbor Creek in five innings. The Red Hurricanes will meet Eastern York Thursday.
–The Mars Boys Lacrosse team will face Bishop Shanahan at Cumberland Valley high school today at 4pm in the PIAA Class 2A semifinals.
–Tonight in the PIAA Class 3A Boys Volleyball semifinals – Seneca Valley and North Allegheny will meet at Fox Chapel high school. The match begins at 6pm.
