A San Antonio woman fell victim to a scam late last week while visiting in Wayne Township, Lawrence County.
According to State Police, a 75-year-old woman used a command on her cell phone to call a Hertz Rental Car location around 1:30pm on Friday (August 12th).
Authorities say that the woman then spoke to a man who told her to go to Walmart and obtain a Visa card for $485. The victim was then instructed to call another number to set up the rental.
Officials say that the victim later called the second number and gave the card number to a woman. The victim was then instructed to go to an auto body shop to pick up the rental.
Police say that after the victim was unable to obtain the rental car from the auto body shop, she called the male scammer again and was told she would get a rental from the airport on Saturday.
After the third phone call, the victim reported the incident to authorities.
