A local lawmaker continues to work closely and carefully with colleagues to review Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget proposal.
In her role as a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Republican State Representative Marci Mustello of Butler participated in a series of hearings last week with seven agency heads, six college and university presidents, and two Supreme Court Justices.
Mustello questioned representatives of the state Department of Environmental Protection on Thursday about protecting employers such as Cleveland Cliffs from regulations that may result in the shut-down of the Butler Works Plant. She also requested the Department of Labor and Industry provide an update on improper payments made during the pandemic.
The Shapiro budget proposal includes over $48 billion in expenditures.
