The Pennsylvania State Senate has passed a bill that would require the senate to confirm the state’s Emergency Management Agency director.
Republican Senator Lisa Baker is one of the sponsors of the bill and she believes the position should be a confirmation process considering the responsibilities.
“It is clear a more thorough review of the pertinent experience and capabilities of the individual selected for this crucial position is warranted,” Baker said. “This is the same broad accountability that applies to cabinet and cabinet level positions, and a host of independent agencies.”
Baker cites the size of the agency as another reason to confirm the position. Senate Democrats opposed the bill.
