Attorney General Dave Sunday has announced that Pennsylvania will receive part of a massive national settlement.
Pending court approval, the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma settled with a coalition of states and other parties for $7.4 billion due to responsibility for contributing to the opioid addiction crisis.
Pennsylvania will receive up to $212 million over the next 15 years with the funds going to support opioid addiction treatment, prevention, and recovery programs.
Also, another part of the agreement forces the Sackler family to relinquish control of Purdue Pharma and forfeit the ability to sell opioids in the United States.
