Those looking for a sweet way to celebrate National Dairy Month need look no further than the return of the Pennsylvania Ice Cream Trail.
The 5th annual Ice Cream Trail in the Keystone State is a partnership between dairy farm families, small businesses that source from them, the PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s Tourism Office, and the Center for Dairy Excellence.
Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding says the trail is a connection between the farmers and 30 total creameries involved, including a few in western Pennsylvania.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to the farms across the state who work everyday to keep us fed as we witnessed during the last couple of years, but they also add greatly to the quality of life in Pennsylvania,” Redding said. “Embodied in every scoop of ice cream is this story. It is all of these good ingredients that come together that allow us to have the ice cream trail.”
Participants who complete 10 check-ins along the trail can earn a special stainless-steel ice-cream scooper. More information is available online through the VisitPA website.
