A regional organization will receive state funding through March of 2025 in order to allow local women and minorities greater access to the building and construction trades.
The $90,000 in new funds will allow Steamfitters Local 449 to expand its registered apprenticeship program in the building and construction trades by hiring 25 new apprenticeships, with a focus on bringing greater diversity and inclusion to these fields.
Apprenticeships through the state department of Labor and Industry are fully federally funded with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act statewide activity funds.
Steamfitters Local 449 serves workers in Butler County and 14 other counties.
