The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, pending a physical. The four-time NFL MVP will be in Pittsburgh in time for next week’s mandatory mini-camp. The 41-year old Rodgers was released by the New York Jets earlier this year after he spent two years there.
The move sets up a potential match-up of starting quarterbacks with different teams in Week One of the NFL season, when the Steelers visit the New York Jets. Former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is projected as the Jets starter.
Rodgers will be entering his 21st season in the NFL after being a first-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2005.
