The Pittsburgh Steelers made several roster moves on Saturday to trim their active roster down to 53 prior to the 4pm deadline.
Some of those moves include receiver Sammie Coats being traded to the Cleveland Browns, along with a 2019 seventh round draft pick in, in exchange for Cleveland’s sixth round pick in 2018. Cornerback Ross Cockrell was traded to the New York Giants in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
Other cuts from Saturday include several players from last year’s AFC Championship run, such as wide receivers Cobi Hamilton and Demarcus Ayers, tight end David Johnson, and running back Fitzgerald Toussiant. Quarterback Bart Houston and cornerback Senquez Golson were also released.
Players with local ties such as linebacker Matt Galambos and cornerback Terrish Webb (both from Pitt), along with guard Ethan Cooper (IUP) were also cut.
