The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted running back Najee Harris from Alabama with their 24th selection in the first round of the NFL Draft last night in Cleveland. Harris is the first running back selected in the opening round by the Black and Gold since Rashard Mendenhall in 2008. He was projected as the top running back in the 2021 draft class.
Harris rushed for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns for the Crimson Tide last season. He also caught 43 passes and four touchdowns. He had returned to Alabama for his senior season to help improve his draft stock, and held his team to a national championship.
Rounds two and three will begin tonight at 7pm. Rounds four through seven will be held Saturday.
