The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cleveland Browns 20-13 Sunday at Heinz Field. Despite missing their top running back, top wide receiver and starting their third-string quarterback, the Steelers outgained the Browns by more than 40 yards. The Steelers defense sacked Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield five times, picked him off once and forced a fumble.
Devlin Hodges was 14-of-21 for 212 yards, an interception and a touchdown. Receiver James Washington had the lone receiving touchdown and produced 111 yards.
Kicker Chris Boswell hit two field goals. He is now 23-of-25 this season.
The Steelers continue to hold onto the final AFC Wild Card spot at 7-5. They visit the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at 4:25pm. The Steelers are early two-point favorites.
The Steelers game the following week against Buffalo (December 15th) has now been flexed to a Sunday Night football slot at 8:20pm. The announcement was made after the Steelers defeated the Browns, setting up a possible match-up of the two AFC Wild Card teams that night. The Bills are 9-3 after defeating Dallas Thanksgiving Day. Buffalo will host Baltimore this Sunday at 1pm.
Other NFL games Sunday:
–Baltimore defeated San Francisco 20-17 for their franchise-record eighth win in a row.
–Cincinnati won their first game of the season when they returned to long-time starting quarterback Andy Dalton and defeated the New York Jets 22-6.
–Tennessee remains in the Wild Card hunt following a 31-17 win over Indianapolis. The Titans are 7-5. The Colts fell to 6-6.
–Kansas City defeated Oakland 40-9, giving the Chiefs a two-game lead in the AFC West over the Raiders, who fell to 6-6.
–Miami defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 37-31, coming back from a 14-point deficit. The Eagles blew a chance to tie Dallas for first place in the NFC East.
–Green Bay defeated the New York Giants 31-13.
–Denver booted a 53-yard field goal as time expired to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 23-20.
–The Los Angeles Rams crushed Arizona 34-7.
–Washington won their third game of the year with a 29-21 win over Carolina.
–Tampa Bay defeated Jacksonville 28-11.
Sunday Night Football:
–Houston defeated New England 28-22. The Texans improved to 8-4 and remain one game in front of Tennessee in the AFC South. The Patriots fell to 10-2 and are just one game in front of Buffalo in the AFC East.
Monday Night Football:
–Seattle will host Minnesota at 8:15pm. The Seahawks are the top NFC Wild Card team at 9-2, and can tie the 49ers for first place in the NFC West with a win. Minnesota is 8-3 and are currently the other NFC Wild Card team. They can tie with Packers for the NFC North lead with a win.
Steelers defensive lineman “Mean” Joe Greene along with linebackers Jack Lambert and Jack Ham were selected to the NFL’s All-Time Team. Deacon Jones, Dick Butkus and Lawrence Taylor were among six unanimous choices for the team celebrating the league’s 100th season.
