Students at a local elementary school will soon enjoy a new outdoor learning classroom.
The Butler Area School Board looked over preliminary plans for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Courtyard at McQuistion Elementary at a board meeting earlier this week.
The project is expected to cost over $30,000, which will be covered by a grant, as well as money raised by the McQuistion Parent Teacher Organization.
There will be no structural changes to the current courtyard space but students this fall will be able to utilize a weather station, outdoor magnetic pegboard, birdhouses and concrete seats.
