Steven Scott Bonnett “Skippy, Steve-O, Daddy” , 58 of Butler, PA, loving and loved husband and best Dad ever, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Steve was born on August 19, 1966, to George R. and Carol (Weisenstein) Bonnett.
Steve was a 1985 graduate of Butler High School, and attended Butler County Community College and Slippery Rock University. Steve had a love of sports and was a lifelong athletic trainer for Butler, Pine Richland, Seneca Valley, BC3, and SRU. Steve married the love of his/hers life, Kristina Lorraine Hoffman, on May 27, 2006. They welcomed their son, Kagan Lee Elder Bonnett on August 16, 2014. Steve said Kagan was the best birthday gift he ever received. Steve loved all things Pittsburgh Sports and cheered on the teams with Kagan. Steve was a Mason, Shriner, and Lion, serving on many boards through the years. He also received the Melvin Jones Award and was on the honor roll of the Lions. He was a youth leader at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. He served the church in many capacities and loved being involved. Steve’s favorite times were spent with Kagan and Kris, whom he loved more than anything. Steve loved carrying on the tradition of Saturday night dinners with his family and parents, especially Chinese. Steve was a friend to all, ready to lend a hand where needed.
His memory will be held close and cherished by his wife Kris, son Kagan (KK), parents George R. & Carol, mother-in-law Margie Hoffman, brother-in-law Gary E. Hoffman, Gracie, Sissy, Max, Uncle Bob & Aunt Mary Jane Weisentein, cousins Marlene, Jim, and Lori, and their families; and his family of friends: Ang, Dan, Jill, Jane, Greg, Nancy, Steve, Mandi, and Jimmy, along with his nieces and nephews through love and all who loved and knew him.
Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Maurice & Dorothy Bonnett, maternal grandparents Robert L. & Pearle Weisentein, Bernice Boyer (Kris’ Granny), his beloved dogs, Benji and Sophie, and cat, Suzey Boo.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. An additional hour of visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W Jefferson St, Butler, PA 16001. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor David Phillips officiating.
Steve will be laid to rest privately in McCreas Furnace Cemetery, New Bethlehem, PA.
