A line of storms and heavy rain blew through Butler County Friday afternoon and emergency responders have been busy.
Starting shortly before 2:30 p.m. and continuing for at least an hour, heavy storms resulted in rain and high winds in several different communities.
Crews responded to wires down calls in Worth, Cranberry, Center, Connoquenessing, Jefferson, Cherry, Clay, and Buffalo Townships. According to West Penn Power’s website a total of 2,900 Butler County residents are currently without power.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch through 9 p.m. Friday night.
