According to a new survey, more than half of nursing home staff members across the state have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
The state Department of Health conducted the survey and found 53 percent of workers are vaccinated. Deputy Secretary Keara Klinepter provides a little more information on why she thinks some workers aren’t getting the vaccine.
“I don’t have hard data, but anecdotally what we’ve heard is that there are a number of staff who didn’t want to be the first to get vaccinated,” Klinepter said. “They wanted to see their colleagues, their families get vaccinated, and then they were willing to get vaccinated.”
And while 53 percent may seem low, the DOH says that number is actually above the national average.
