A new study shows how much a lifetime of smoking can cost for someone who lives in Pennsylvania.
The report from WalletHub says that when you combine the actual cost of cigarettes and the possible financial side effects of the habit, smoking can cost a resident around $2.5 million.
A majority of that money is an estimated financial opportunity cost of $1.6 million. As to the actual out-of-pocket expenses for cigarettes– WalletHub says state residents who smoke pay nearly $150,000 over their lifetime.
