With many parents worried about the pile of candy their kids will be consuming after Halloween, there could be a bigger health threat in many families’ refrigerators every day.
According to the American Heart Association, sodas and other sugary drinks are the main source of excess sugar in the diets of most Americans including kids.
Most children consume at least one or more sugar-added beverage every day which could lead to childhood obesity, type 2 diabetes, or heart disease.
Parents are encouraged to rethink kids’ drinks by switching to water or 100% real fruit juice with no sugar added. Parents can also limit consumption of soda or other sugary drinks to once a week.
