A civil rights lawsuit filed by a Butler County couple who claim police and an insurance agent mistook their hibiscus plants for marijuana will head to federal court.
Edward Cramer and his wife, Audrey, of Buffalo Township, allege their home was wrongfully raided in October as they were handcuffed and forced to sit in the back of a police car for hours.
Both Cramers, who are in their late 60s, are alleging excessive force and false arrest.
The case was filed in Butler County Court in November against Buffalo Township and three of its police officers, Nationwide Insurance and a nationwide agent.
A scheduling conference is scheduled for the end of the month.
