Department of Education officials are taking time this week to stress the importance of summer learning.
Friday marks the last day of “National Summer Learning Week” and Secretary of Education Noe Ortega says that it’s important students stay engaged despite not being in the classroom.
“Summer learning creates opportunities for students to reconnect with teachers, continue to learn, and prepare for the next school year, that will begin for many starting next month,” Ortega said.
Ortega also said that he hopes the additional funding set aside for public education in the state budget will help cut the learning gap.
