Susan Eleanor Andre, 70, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 18, 2021 at Concordia Lutheran Home in Cabot..
She was born August 5, 1950 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence Andre and the late Eleanor (McKnight) Andre.
Susan attended Butler High School graduating in 1968. She then attended Butler County Community College, earning her Associated Degree in Applied Science. Susan relocated to Reston, Virginia near Washington, D.C, where she joined the U.S. Department of Treasury, achieving a Senior Level position as a Computer Analyst for Personnel Payroll in the Office of Thrift Supervision. Since her retirement in 2005, Susan divided her time between Reston and Butler, rejoining old friends and making new ones.
Her lifelong interests included music, film, spiritual philosophy, sewing, quilting, politics and all things feline. Her loving association with her cat companions stimulated her interest in animal welfare and charity work. Susan’s profound generosity toward the Butler County Humane Society largely enabled the extensive renovation of the Feline Wing at their Connoquenessing facility.
As a talented seamstress, she was dedicated to her craft, continually creating. She delighted family and friends with gifts of her beautiful quilt work, all intricately fashioned and flawlessly executed. Reaching out beyond her community, Susan applied her talents as a “Blanketeer” creating and donating dozen of handmade blankets and pillow cases to Project Linus, a national, non-profit organization providing comfort to seriously ill children.
Susan is survived by many cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Ray and Ruth Andre and Donald and Pearl McKnight.
With kindness and generosity, she leaves the legacy of her art; and other philanthropy towards animal welfare, the environment, the human spirit and intellect; improving life in Butler Community.
A special note of appreciation to the Schwalm Hall Staff at Concordia.
