The Seneca Valley School District will hold its own version of Penn State University’s annual Dance Marathon fundraiser on Friday.
About 200 student dancers have committed to dance and stand (without leaning or sitting down) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the senior high school gym. The event is called “Raiderthon.”
The goal is for participants to raise $10,000 for the Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Visitors are welcome to attend for a $5 fee, which will also go to the Miracle League.
There is an online GoFundMe account where people can donate online.
“Raiderthon” is modeled after PSU’s THON fundraiser, which is the largest student-run philanthropy in the country. Students stand for 46 hours straight to raise money to support those affected by childhood cancer.
