Sylvia Higgins, 86, of Butler, PA, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, after a brief illness.
Daughter of the late Edward and Sophia (Garimort) Krulatz.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Jeffrey Higgins and his wife, Emelyn Gail, of Clinton Township. MI, her sister, Elizabeth Krulatz of Camp Hill, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth V. Higgins, her husband of 66 years, preceded her in death in June 2024. They were married in May of 1958.
Sylvia graduated from Butler Area Sr. High School, in 1957, and had been employed at Nationwide Insurance Co., Magnetics, Inc., and later retried from Butler Area Catholic Schools, where she was secretary of the school.
Sylvia was devout in her faith, and active at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church. And was often found assisting with funeral luncheons and would regularly count monetary contributions after weekend services.
Sylvia, Ken, and Jeff enjoyed many activities as a family including boating, snowmobiling, and just about anything automotive, through which they had many friends.
At the time of her passing she resided at Concordia at The Orchard where she also had many friends, including both other residents and staff members, and very much considered it her home.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025. A Blessing Service will follow at 2:00 pm, at the Funeral Home.
Sylvia had a great passion for all animals, but most especially birds and dogs. The family has requested contributions In Lieu of Flowers to the Butler County Humane Society (https://butlercountyhs.org/make-a-donation/memorial-donations/) in her name.
