Congressman Mike Kelly toured the Butler Farm Show Grounds with members of the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump to better grasp miscues the led to the shooting on July 13th.
After touring the Farm Show Grounds, Kelly says the lapse in security protocols that led to the shooting are significant.
“The burning question for me is that there was knowledge ahead of time that there was a man on that roof and armed. The key was to get the former President of the United States off the podium and then none of this would take place,” Kelly said.
During the tour of the Farm Show Grounds the task force walked where President Trump was shot at and where the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, attempted to kill the former President.
Kelly did praise his colleagues for the bipartisan work being accomplished as the task force features seven Republicans and six Democrats.
“None of us are looking at it as ‘We have to get a quick answer,'” Kelly said. “We have to get the right answer.”
