Leaders across the state are taking time this week to encourage teen drivers to focus on being safe when they get behind the wheel.
It’s all a part of Teen Driver Safety Week, which is currently underway. According to Corporal Brent Miller, director of communication for the Pennsylvania State Police said the message is fairly simple but important.
“We really want them to focus on their driving habits and limit distractions, ensure they buckle up and really know and understand the law,” Miller said.
Miller says that vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for teens.
PennDOT is hoping to increase awareness by inviting teens, teachers, and others to share their story about crashes, close calls, and avoiding accidents on Instagram.
