In an effort to help everyone have an enjoyable holiday, the American Red Cross has released several Thanksgiving safety tips.
Thanksgiving is one of the peak days for cooking fires which are the top cause of home fires in this country.
The Red Cross urges those planning to prepare food to never leave the stove unattended while cooking. Also make sure to remove all items that could burn from near the stove as well as keep children and pets a safe distance away.
Smoke alarms should be tested monthly and all family members should participate in regular practicing of escape plans.
