The Penguins Thursday were defeated by the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-1, snapping a four-game winning streak.
Despite outshooting the Maple Leafs, 46-29, the Penguins effort in the game was very lack luster.
The Maple Leafs scored on their first shot of the game 21 seconds into regulation. The Penguins’ power play was mostly feeble throughout the contest, going 0 for 5. Evgeni Malkin was the lone goal scorer for the Pens getting his sixth goal of the season. Jeff Carter tallied the only assist.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Carolina Hurricanes for a key Metropolitan Division match-up Sunday afternoon at PPG Paints Arena. Face-off is 1pm. WISR pre-game begins at 12:30pm.
