Thelma Jean Schoeffel, 97 of Butler, previously of Evans City, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones on November 1, 2021.
She was born April 24, 1924, in Connoquenessing, the daughter of the late Frank Fehl and Mazie (Frishkorn) Fehl. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Evans City. Thelma graduated from Butler Beauty School and retired from Mine Safety after putting in over 30 years. She loved quilting and tatting among other various crafting. Thelma put many faithful heart felt hours in at her church, she did funeral dinners and helped at the clothing cupboard. She loved to bowl and was part of a league, bowling until she was in her early 90s. She loved all nature including fishing and birdwatching. Thelma was a strong-willed, independent, hard-working woman. She loved all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren along with many others she met along the way.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Val Jean (Michael) Coyle of Butler PA. Seven Grandchildren Michael (Cindy) Kamerer of Butler, Shane (Erin) Kamerer of Enon Valley, Christopher (Melanie) Coyle of Butler, William (Jen) Coyle of Tonopah NV, Dawn (Matt) Davis of Bessemer, Marvin (Cheryl) Schoeffel of Boyers and Jolene Schoeffel of New Brighton. Twenty-three great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Schoeffel, her son Warren Schoeffel, and a great grandson Michael Schoeffel. She was also preceded by her parents, one brother Theron (Skinny) Fehl, sister Irma Lutz and twin sister Twila Ritzert.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 5-8PM.
Service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 10AM with her pastor, Brandon Johns officiating.
Interment in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
