A couple hundred people gathered on the campus of Butler County Community College on Tuesday night to hear from a Butler County licensed therapist who believes he has developed a revolutionary approach to fighting opioid addiction.
Steve Treu says it all surrounds hope and endorphins.
“It starts, literally, with hope,” Treu said in an interview with Butler Radio. “It resembles the placebo effect. That happens with hope itself. Studies have demonstrated that hope has an opioid-like effect on the body.”
Treu spoke as part of Butler County Community College’s “Reset Your Brain” initiative, which will also include a series of classes this spring based on Treu’s writing. He is the author of “Hope Is Dope,” which details how to trigger the brain’s reproduction of endorphins to create a natural high.
