Today is the start of National School Choice Week and activities are planned across the country to raise awareness about different educational opportunities.
Nearly 900 events are planned to take place across Pennsylvania this week, including open house events at schools, school fairs and homeschool information sessions.
A recent survey by the National School Choice Awareness Foundation found that nearly three in four U.S. parents considered new schools for their children last year which represents an increase of nearly 20%.
National School Choice Week began in 2011 to spotlight effective education options from traditional public schools to charter schools, magnet schools, online academies and private schools.
