Thomas L. Edwards, 73, of Butler, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was born in Butler on July 3, 1947 to the late Courtland and Florence (Cranmer) Edwards. Thomas was a mine sweeper and combat engineer for the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He graduated from SRU with a Bachelor’s degree in economics. Thomas retired from the Local Laborers’ Union 373 after 27 years and worked at Pullman Standard, as well as tended bar at numerous local establishments. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening and was known for his spirituality and strong political views. Above all else he was known for his unending love of animals. Thomas was the father of Aaron (Heather) Edwards and Angela (Alastair Khodabukus) Edwards; brother of Patricia (Gordon) Ray and Robert (Tara Allman) Edwards. He is also survived by his grandchildren Liam and Brennan, and a loving family. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years Jessie Myers who passed away on December 26, 2019. Friends received Thursday, May 27th from 5-7 pm in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD, BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Butler County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society.
