Thomas Lee Goeppner, 82, of Butler, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at his home.
Born January 23, 1940, in Butler, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Leona (Shera) Goeppner.
Tom was a graduate of Butler High School.
He worked at Armco Steel Mill for over 30 years as a roller in the Cold Mill Department until his retirement.
In 1962, he married Barbara (Smith), to who he was deeply devoted to for 58 years until her death on February 6. 2020.
Tom was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Slovak Club in Lyndora. He had volunteered at Katie’s Kitchen Community Meals, and was an avid sportsman.
He also coached his sons Midget Football Team, and Youth Baseball Teams.
Tom enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, archery, trips to Alaska, and enjoyed traveling with his wife on cruises and outings to casinos.
Surviving are his sons, Robert R. Goeppner (wife Bobbijo), and Geoffrey A. Goeppner, all of Butler,
Also surviving, is his sister Nancy (Goeppner) Nicklas (Terry) of Butler, 2 nephews, Tim Dubyak and Andy Dubyak, as well as 2 nieces, Stacey File and Kim Goeppner.
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas L. Goeppner, Jr., of Butler who died on May 20, 2021, as well as two brothers, Raymond L. Goeppner and Phillip W. Goeppner.
Friends will be received at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home with Pastor David M. Phillips of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Thomas L. Goeppner will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family desires that donations in his honor be made to Katie’s Kitchen, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 201 West Jefferson Street, Butler, PA 16001.
