Thursday is Children’s Grief Awareness Day and a couple local groups are raising awareness of the occasion.
Students, teachers, and staff members in the Mars Area School District are being asked to wear the color blue to show support for students dealing with loss.
The Highmark Caring Place will offer a webinar called “It’s OK to Not Be OK” on Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. This free presentation does not require registration and will focus on the range of feelings experienced by those who are grieving as well as ways to support grieving children and adults.
The purpose of this day is to bring attention to the unique needs of children who are grieving because of the loss of a parent, sibling, or close family member. For more information on this observance, visit the Children’s Grief Awareness Day website.
