The Detroit Tigers completed a two-game series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 3-1 victory Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park. The Bucs managed just four hits in the game, with their lone run produced by a Jack Suwinski round-tripper in the fourth inning. There were 24 strikeouts in the game, with the Pirates striking out 13 times. Mitch Keller started for the Pirates and allowed one run on four hits over his six innings of work. He walked two and struck out seven. Wil Crowe took the loss in relief.
The Pirates begin a seven-game road trip tonight with the first of four games in Atlanta. First pitch is 7:20pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:55pm.
Fan balloting for the All-Star Game next month began Wednesday. A person can submit up to five votes over a 24-hour period. There are two rounds of fan voting, the first round which determines the starters. The game will be played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles July 19th.
