The Detroit Tigers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3 last night at PNC Park after a more than two hour rain delay. The Tigers built a 4-1 led into the fourth inning when Pirates rookie Cal Mitchell hit a two-run home run, but the Bucs were held scoreless after that.
Travis Swaggerty made his MLB debut in centerfield, but went 0-for-3. Jose Quintana allowed four earned runs on seven hits in 3-1/3rd innings and took the loss.
