Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey was one of six Republicans to vote that the second impeachment of former President Donald Trump is constitutional.
Toomey made that argument on CNN earlier this week.
“I think it is constitutional. I think it’s clearly constitutional to conduct the Senate trial with respect to the impeachment,” Toomey told Jake Tapper on State of the Union. “In this case the impeachment occurred prior to the president leaving office.”
“But, my job is going to be to listen to both sides of this, evaluate the arguments, and make a decision,” Toomey added.
Trump’s impeachment trial began Tuesday in the Senate. The timeline for when proceedings will end is unclear.
