The Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau has secured nearly $500,000 in grant funding that will go toward a new idea for a museum and multi-use facility.
The bureau was named a recipient of $475,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant. Tourism President Jack Cohen describes the vision for the new facility.
“What we’re hoping to do is build a multi-use facility to show off the beautiful automobiles that were created here in Butler County,” Cohen said.
Cohen says the facility is still in the very early planning stages. But, he believes it’s important to honor innovation that’s happened in Butler.
“We need to talk about the rich history of this community. We have all the vehicles; we’ve been buying them,” Cohen said. “We want to make sure people know the history of this community. We want to get them out there so people have the opportunity to tell that story to their friends, neighbors, and relatives who may want to come visit.”
Cohen says the project could cost around $2.5 million. He also hopes to put the new facility in the City of Butler.
