The Butler Transit Authority anticipates receiving federal and state grant funding after authorizing local match money.
The Authority approved a local match totaling about $1,800 at their Tuesday night meeting which will allow for about $125,000 in capital projects grants.
One of the grants will be used to purchase equipment such as a truck, a car, a mower, a floor sweeper, and a leaf blower. The other grant will go towards a new phone system, a laptop computer, and wi-fi receivers for the Authority’s buses.
The next step in this process is for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to execute the grants sometime over the next month to six weeks after which the Authority will be able to make purchases.
