The Butler Transit Authority is considering the purchase of more buses.
The Authority’s Board of Directors approved a motion Tuesday to participate in a joint bus procurement deal with Beaver, Westmoreland, and Central PA Transit Authorities. By purchasing more buses together, the group expects to get a better price.
According to Executive Director John Paul, this agreement does not commit the authority to purchasing any buses but they would have the option to purchase between one and four 40-45 foot CNG coach buses. These buses could be used to expand commuter service if the current program proves to be successful.
The authority expects to hear back about the details of the procurement before July 1st and then would have up to five years to purchase any buses at the quoted price.
