The Butler Transit Authority is investing in a new phone system.
At their meeting Tuesday night, the authority board approved the purchase of the new system from Third Generation at a cost of $7,100.
The current system is 11 years old and has no resale value. The new system, which includes core hardware as well as 14 phones, is covered under a five year warranty. The new system uses data lines for greater clarity for conference calls while also allowing flexibility for growth.
Authority Executive Director John Paul will request that PennDOT provide funding to cover this expense but if that is not possible, the authority will use available operational funds. The new equipment is expected to be in place by next month.
