The Butler Transit Authority will purchase a piece of cleaning equipment to replace one nearing the end of its usefulness.
During their meeting Tuesday night, the authority’s board approved the purchase of a Factory Cat riding floor scrubber for about $24,000.
The previous floor scrubber is 11 years old and needs new batteries as well as other upgrades. It has no trade-in value but the authority will try to sell it once the new scrubber is received in a couple weeks.
The authority considered four different choices for replacement before settling on the Factory Cat which features double front scrubber brushes to help lift and collect the dirt to keep the garage clean.
The money to pay for this equipment will come from PennDOT who is also expected to pay for a new truck and car later this year.
