The Butler Transit Authority is planning to celebrate a big anniversary by giving back to local green space.
At their Tuesday meeting, the authority’s board of directors approved the purchase of 35 young trees at the cost of $1,200.
In honor of the 35th anniversary of the authority, staff and board members will be planting the trees in Alameda Park sometime this fall.
The County’s Parks Director has picked out an area and will help with choosing the kinds of trees to be planted. A marker will be placed near the trees to remember the occasion.
The Butler Transit Authority was formed in September of 1989 by Butler Township and Butler City but started being controlled by the County in 2017.
