Tributes continue to pour in for Pittsburgh Steelers legend Franco Harris, who passed away yesterday.
The Hall of Famer is receiving tributes from Steelers fans, who have placed flowers at his statue at the airport and at the Immaculate Reception landmark on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.
Local Congressman Mike Kelly also took time to remember Harris yesterday with a speech on the House floor.
“In addition to his years in the NFL and in addition to being an idol in the Pittsburgh community, Franco Harris was something else: Franco Harris was very approachable. Franco Harris always had time for those who needed something,” Rep. Kelly said.
President Joe Biden also expressed his thoughts on the former Steelers legend in a tweet yesterday.
Franco Harris is known for the glory he brought to football. But I knew him for his character and compassion – someone who spent time with my boys after we lost my first wife and infant daughter.
May God bless Franco Harris, a dear friend of 50 years and a great American. pic.twitter.com/YhOYr3a4IM
